Listening to “Painting With,” the 10th album by Animal Collective, is like stepping into a melodic funhouse with harmonies reflecting off of one another. The band recorded this album where The Beach Boys recorded “Pet Sounds” – East West studios in Los Angeles. Enhancing on the futuristic pop melodies that have made me a fan, “Painting With,” is tighter and more ambitious in the most fantastical of ways.
