Welcome to New Music Friday! October 2, 2026 brings us an absolutely stacked lineup of new releases across every genre imaginable. Whether you’re into metal, indie rock, country, electronic, or soul, there’s something incredible dropping today.
Meshell Ndegeocello returns with “Synonym,” another chapter in her pioneering career that continues to blur the lines between jazz, funk, soul, and experimental music. Victoria Monét follows up her Grammy success with “Frequency of Love,” an album that promises more of the silky R&B grooves that established her as one of music’s brightest stars. Brooklyn indie rockers Wishy deliver “Nature’s Pill,” a dreamy collection of guitar-driven songs that’s been generating serious buzz in the underground scene. The Album Leaf’s “A Body of Voices” finds Jimmy LaValle crafting another gorgeous set of atmospheric post-rock soundscapes perfect for introspective autumn listening. Swedish melodic death metal veterans Amon Amarth unleash “The Allfather Awakens,” bringing their Viking-inspired fury to yet another epic collection of Norse mythology-fueled anthems.
As always, the entire list of new albums released today, Friday, Oct. 2, 2026 is below in no particular order. My most anticipated albums are in bold.
