New Music Friday on The High Note

Happy Friday, music lovers! Things are finally starting to warm up here in Atlantic City, New Jersey, so let’s dive into the freshest tunes released Friday, May 12.

Five-string banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck graces us with “As We Speak,” promising another round of his incomparable blend of bluegrass, jazz, and world music. Belinda Carlisle brings her distinctive pop-rock sound back to our speakers with “Kismet,” an album sure to inspire both nostalgia and new love for her music.

One of my favorite bands, Animal Collective, offers a reimagined journey with “Spirit They’re Gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished,” providing fans with a fresh take on their debut album. The Dropkick Murphys follows up on its collection of Woody Guthrie songs in “Okemah Rising.” Meanwhile, Canadian folk-rock legend Bruce Cockburn presents “O Sun O Moon,” an album that further cements his place in the hearts of fans worldwide.

Electronic music pioneer Moby delivers “Resound NYC,” an album expected to blend his signature sounds with new explorations, while country music’s rising star Parker McCollum comes through with “Never Enough,” showcasing his captivating storytelling and soulful voice.

As always, the entire list of new albums released today, Friday, May 12, 2023, is below in no particular order. Let me know what you’re listening to in the comments below and on social media @highnoteblog.
