The High Note

Another week in the books and Friday is here to help us celebrate and ease into the weekend with some new tunes.

Of course, nothing is really normal right now in the era of Covid-19 and the music world is no different. Last week, I wrapped up my first virtual Philadelphia Folk Festival and today I’m looking at a list of new releases from bands that I haven’t heard from in a while. I am somehow just as excited about them today as I would have been about 10 years ago.

At the top of that list is Bright Eyes and not far below comes The Killers, Cut Copy, The Front Bottoms and Nas. There are also albums by The Lemon Twigs and Tim McGraw among others.

Below, in no particular order, are my picks for new albums released today, Friday, Aug. 21, 2020. My most anticipated albums are in bold.
