New Music Friday on The High Note

As a cold wave sweeps across the east coast, I’m happy that we can count on the omnipresent warmth of New Music Friday to keep us warm. So let’s dive into the listening igloo for all the new albums released Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.

First, up in the singer-songwriter realm, we have to pay respect to Janis Ian who is hanging up her guitar after 57 years of performing with “At The Light At The End Of The Line.”

If you’re into that sort of thing, then maybe check out “Optimism” from Jana Horn, Aoife O’Donovan “Age of Apathy” and Aurora – “The Gods We Can Touch.”

In the rock world, I’m stoked about “Butterfly 3001” from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard since Band of Horses postponed “Things Are Great” until March.

Lastly for the hip-hop fans, I’m liking “Me Vs. Me” from NLE Choppa, “Colors” from YoungBoy Never Broke Again and “On To Better Things” from Iann Dior.

As always, the entire list of new albums released today, Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 is below in no particular order. My most anticipated albums are in bold.

Let me know what you’re listening to in the comments and on social media @highnoteblog
