New Music Friday – Nov. 27, 2020

The High Note

Happy Black Friday everybody! Whether you are still hungover from all the turkey and stuffing you ate yesterday or it’s back to the daily grind, The High Note has a holiday respite for you and is giving thanks for all the new music released today.

Like most of life, the music industry usually just hunkers down and prepares for the blur between Thanksgiving and New Years Day. However, maybe the pandemic has gifted us with some extra music this year because many albums postponed their release dates from earlier in the year.

Speaking of the pandemic, Bad Bunny, who is fighting the coronavirus, has a new album out as does Miley Cyrus, who has recently embraced an 80s pop-rock sound. Two 90s rock bands have albums out – The Smashing Pumpkins have a really respectable new project featuring its original members, Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day has a solo project and Powerfinger fans can sink into an album of unreleased tracks.

I’m always stoked to see a Phoebe Bridgers project and she has an EP and one of my favorite British alternative rock bands, Sundara Karma has a new album. I also have to give credit to Kelley Stoltz, whose music got me through my college years, for releasing a new project and Dream Theater has a live album recorded in London.

As always, please let me know what you are listening to in the comments below or on social media. My full list of albums released today, Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, is below in no particular order. My most anticipated albums are in bold.
