New Music Friday - The High Note with Shaun Smith

The summer soundtrack continues to heat up on this week’s New Music Friday for Aug. 8, 2025.

Ethel Cain delivers a hauntingly beautiful Southern gothic tale with “Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You,” her most personal and cinematic release yet.

The Black Keys return with “No Rain, No Flowers,” a gritty and soulful collection that brings garage rock back into bloom.

Gunna is back in full form on “The Last Wun,” merging melodic flows with sharp Atlanta production.

Good Charlotte crashes in with “Motel Du Cap,” their first full-length in years, blending pop-punk nostalgia with modern polish.

Roc Marciano and DJ Premier, link up for the dark and dusty “The Coldest Profession,” reminding us why both are legends in the game.

As always, the entire list of albums released today, Friday, Aug. 8, 2025 is below in no particular order. My most anticpated albums are in bold.

Let me know what you’re listening in the comments below and on social media @highnoteblog.
