New Music Friday - The High Note with Shaun Smith

Happy New Music Friday! April kicks off with an absolutely stacked lineup of releases for April 3 that’ll keep your playlists fresh all month long. From indie darlings to bass virtuosos, there’s something here for every mood and moment.

This Week’s Featured Highlights

Arlo Parks returns with “Ambiguous Desire,” delivering her signature blend of poetic introspection and soul-stirring melodies that cement her place as one of indie’s most essential voices.

Joe Pernice offers up Sunny, “I Was Wrong,” a collection that showcases his decades-perfected craft of wrapping heartbreak in the warmest melodies imaginable.

Thundercat’s “Distracted” promises the funk-fusion bassist’s typical genre-defying brilliance, mixing cosmic grooves with his unmistakable humor and virtuosity.

Country troubadour Charley Crockett channels vintage sounds into something entirely his own on “Age of the Ram,” proving once again why he’s one of Americana’s most compelling storytellers.

Bruce Hornsby’s “Indigo Park,” out today, is a reflective 10-song concept album about childhood and memory featuring collaborations with Bonnie Raitt, Ezra Koenig, and the late Bob Weir and Robert Hunter of The Grateful Dead.

As always, the entire list of new albums released today, Friday, April 3, 2026 is below in no particular order. My most anticipated albums are in bold.
