New Music Friday is like the weather – always changing. I love the ebbs and flows of album releases and also the surprises that show up every week as I look for new music. This week is a big one.
This week I’m going to only highlight a few albums since there are so many released Friday, Oct. 22, 2021. First up, My Morning Jacket has been one of my favorite rock bands since my college days and I have to hear what the band has been up to with its self-titled album during the pandemic.
I’m going to keep going with the rock theme and suggest Parquet Courts and the band’s seventh album “Sympathy for Life.” I’ve been a fan of the indie rock band for years and I absolutely love the title which is reason enough to suggest it.
I also have loved JPEGMafia for a while and the east coast rapper is at the top of his game on his fourth album “LP!”
Lastly, for those who are feeling adventurous, check out Latin experimental folk artist Helado Negro and his latest album “Far In,” which blends his many influences in an electronically pleasing package.
