The rock music vibes continue this week on The High Note because I am stoked about the latest album from Red Bank, New Jersey’s own Monster Magnet “A Better Dystopia,” released today, Friday, May 21, 2021.
I love Monster Magnet for two reasons, first because they’re from Jersey, and also because they opened for Aerosmith, twice, during the “Powertrip” tour, and boy do they rock.
I also have to share the excitement for Twenty One Pilots, a band I had never heard of before going to Firefly and getting convinced by a couple of fans who camped next to me, one who had a Twenty One Pilots tattoo, to check them out. If you’re a fan of the band, you already know all about “Scaled and Icy.”
There are a bunch of albums I’m stoked about this week that will make it onto my playlist this weekend, including albums by blues singer-songwriter Robert Finley, singer-songwriter Allison Russell, Welsh musician Gruff Rhys and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, who released an album of Bob Dylan covers.
As always, my full list of new albums released today, Friday, May 21, 2021 is below in no particular order. My most anticipated albums are in bold. As always, let me know what you’re listening to in the comments and on social media.
