August is always a magical time for music. Music festivals and summer tours and students are all gearing up for a final hurrah before they go back to school.
I first saw Sturgill Simpson on an August night at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and the roots rocker is out with a new album “The Ballad of Dood and Juanita,” which is the first album on my list for today.
I’m also a big Angel Olsen fan so I’m excited about the singer-songwriter’s latest “Aisles.” Anderson East is always energetic and passionate on his albums so I’m not surprised at the title of his latest “Maybe We Will Never Die.”
Dvsn and Ty Dolla Sign have teamed up for “Cheers to the Best Memories,” and Irish singer-songwriter Orla Gartland is out with her debut “Woman On the Internet.”
Boston blues trio GA-20 takes on the music of Hound Dog Taylor with its latest and Kool and the Gang’s last album with New Jersey’s own Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas is out today – “Perfect Union.”
